Dr Amanda Burris

Dr. Amanda Burris grew up in Londonderry, NH.  Her whole life has been spent caring for animals. Instead of being the neighborhood baby-sitter, she was the neighborhood pet-sitter.  She spent summers and every school break working for her aunt, a world champion horse trainer in Kentucky.  Dr. Burris graduated with honors in biology from St. Lawrence University in upstate New York in 2004 where she competed on the equestrian team.  She then went on to the Atlantic Veterinary College at the University of Prince Edward Island where she graduated in 2008.  During her time at vet school Dr. Burris worked at the island’s only shelter as a behaviorist, trainer and adoption counselor.  Despite numerous professors encouraging her to go onto various residencies Dr. Burris elected to go into general practice as she enjoys building that all important bond between client- patient & veterinarian.  Following graduation from vet school Dr. Burris practiced in Bedford, NH for almost 5 years then spent almost 3 years in southern Maine before finally ending up here at Town & Country Animal Hospital in New Boston, NH.

It has been a life-long dream of Dr. Burris’s to be a practice owner; to be able to help not only her beloved patients but also their owners.  Dr. Burris has a strong interest in preventative care medicine; making sure your pet stays happy and healthy for a long time.  Preventative medicine ranges from routine examinations, pet specific vaccination protocols, proper life-long nutrition, parasite prevention and monitoring to dental care.

Dr. Burris shares her home (or rather they let her into their home?) with LOTS of animals from dogs and cats to birds and leopard geckos, she also has horses that you can see at the barn located at the clinic.  Dr. Burris also has 3 freshwater fish tanks.  Her most prominent pets are her chihuahuas, Oliva and Freyja who are clinic mascots and can be routinely seen featured on the clinic Facebook page.  Her husband, Brandon (who is also the practice manager) also gets to hang out in the house too!  In her little bit of free time Dr. Burris enjoys wildlife photography, puzzles, horseback riding and reading.

Brandon Burris

Brandon grew up in Laconia, NH.  As a kid he could often be found in pet stores, with a bird perched on his shoulder being mistaken for an employee.  He has been involved in animal care since 2000.  He got his start with the Concord SPCA (Now Pope Memorial SPCA).  From there he has spent his time learning and absorbing as much animal care information as possible.   This led to learning to be an assistant, then technician, and customer service representative.  All of these experiences have prepared him for his new role here as Practice Manager/IT/Lawn Care(Time permitting)/whatever else it takes.

When not working Brandon is an avid reader, fan of video games, board games, and pretty much anything in the Fantasy Genre.  His home is full of animals from several chihuahuas, cats, fish, a few birds and horses which are often seen grazing around the practice.
